  • Reviews and Ratings: User-generated reviews of Designated Pilot Examiners (DPEs).

We import publicly available information about DPEs from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) database, including:

  • Full name
  • Business address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Pilot credentials

This data is publicly accessible and is not considered user-provided personal information.

1.3 Automatically Collected Data

When you visit our website, we collect limited technical data, including:

  • IP address (temporarily logged)
  • Browser type and version
  • Device information
  • Interaction data (pages visited, clicks, time on site)

This information is collected through analytics and tracking tools such as PostHog, which use cookies and local storage to help us understand site usage and improve user experience.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected data for the following purposes:

  • To enable login and authentication via one-time email codes.
  • To display and moderate user-submitted reviews.
  • To improve website performance and user experience through analytics.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., account confirmations).

All user data is stored in the United States using Supabase infrastructure. We retain data as long as necessary to operate the platform and fulfill its purpose. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8).

6. Content Moderation

All reviews are subject to moderation. Checkrides.fyi may remove or edit content deemed inappropriate, irrelevant, or in violation of community standards. Review submissions are tied to verified email addresses to maintain integrity but are not publicly linked to user identities.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures provided by Supabase and our hosting providers to protect user data. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure, and users assume limited risk when submitting information online.

8. Your Rights

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Opt out of data sharing with third parties (where applicable).
